NZ made gifts for everyone who loves the birds in their garden, from the Tūī fan to the night owl.
And this year we have a little something special in every Christmas order, a beautiful Tūī bookmark.
Some people are hard to buy for. But if someone you love stops to listen when a Tūī starts singing, or notices a cheeky Blackbird from the kitchen window, you're already halfway there.
A gift that brings more birds into their garden is one they'll enjoy every single day, long after the wrapping paper has gone. Every Kohab product is designed and made right here in New Zealand, for New Zealand birds. Here are our Christmas picks, sorted by who you're buying for.

For the Tūī lover
Kohab Native Bird Nectar Starter Kit $85.95
Tūī are big birds, up to 30cm tall, and most nectar feeders sold in NZ were designed for tiny overseas hummingbirds. Our Native Bird Nectar Starter Kit has everything they need to start feeding nectar the right way, with a setup made for our native birds.
What's in the box: A wooden Kohab Bird Feeder kitset and 1kg of Kohab Bird Nectar.
The Kohab Branch Bird Feeder is perfect for a wall or fence
For small gardens, decks and courtyards
Kohab Branch Bird Feeder $49.95
No tree? No problem. The Kohab Branch Bird Feeder attaches securely to a wall or fence, making it perfect for townhouses, apartments with a balcony, or anyone short on space. It offers several ways to feed, so it suits a range of garden birds.
Silvereye love the Kohab Love Fruit Bird Feeder
For the kids and grandkids
Kohab Fruit Bird Feeder or Love Fruit Bird Feeder $39.95
The easiest way to get little ones watching birds. Hang it up, add some fruit, and see who arrives. Silvereye usually find it first, and there's nothing like the excitement of the first visitor.
A Kohab Starling Birdhouse is perfect to add to a garden to welcome your local birds.
For the new homeowner
A housewarming gift that keeps on giving. Our birdhouses come as an easy kitset in three styles, each designed for different garden birds. A lovely way to welcome your new feathered neighbours.
We have a range of styles made to suit the birds:
A Kohab Open Birdhouse is suitable for: Grey Warblers, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Silvereyes and House Sparrows and sometimes Tūī.
A Kohab Starling Birdhouse has a 45mm entrance hole. This is big enough for them but not big enough for predator birds such as Myna Birds.
The Kohab Sparrow Birdhouse requires an entrance hole that is much smaller than a Starling, a hole that is 32mm is just right for them.
Kohab Native Bird Feeding Kit has everything you need to start feeding your local birds.
The all-in-one gift
Kohab Native Bird Feeding Kit $125.95
If they've always wanted to feed the birds but never known where to start, the Kohab Native Bird Feeding Kit takes out the guesswork. Everything they need is in one box.
What's in the box: A wooden Kohab Bird Feeder kitset, a Kohab Love Bird Feeder and 1kg of Kohab Bird Nectar.
Ruru need a larger space so the Kohab Ruru Birdhouse has been made just for them and their chicks.
For the night owl
Our only native owl, the Ruru or Morepork, needs large, safe hollows to nest in, and these are getting harder to find as old trees disappear. The Kohab Ruru Birdhouse is made from marine plywood and designed to match the Ruru's natural nesting preferences.
In Māori tradition, the Ruru is often seen as a guardian, watching over people and places. That makes this a really meaningful gift for someone special.
It arrives as a kitset and, because of its size, it's a two-person job to put together, making it the perfect Boxing Day project.
